UBUIFICATION

Alfred Jarry's immortal work King Ubu is revived on stage under the name "ÜBÜŞME". It offers the audience a tale that shows how the Ubu's endless desire for a standardized world creates a universe of fear and how people become Ubu. The play turns the Koleda (Bocuk Night) ritual, a Balkan tradition, into a tool to question the ontology of fear and being afraid. The play, translated from the original French by Hazal Çevik and adapted and directed by Fatih Pazvantoğlu, invites the audience to Jarry's absurd world with its offensive sense of humor.
